Across 1,397 verified user reviews of India's 10 largest online shopping sites, JioMart has the highest satisfaction rate — 58% of its reviewers rate it 4★ or 5★ — while Flipkart has the lowest at 53%, despite being the most-reviewed retailer on 7review (209 reviews). No major Indian e-commerce platform averages above 3.52 out of 5, and at every single one of them roughly 3 in 10 reviews are 1★ or 2★.
Our bias, stated up front: 7review is an open review platform. This ranking comes from unpaid public reviews, not affiliate commissions, vendor briefings or press samples. That also means it skews toward people motivated enough to sit down and write — which is exactly why the negative share looks high everywhere. Read these numbers as relative (who is better than whom), not as an absolute failure rate.
Satisfaction rate across India's biggest shopping sites (2026)
Every figure below is computed directly from 7review's review database on 21 July 2026. Satisfaction rate = share of that retailer's reviews rated 4★ or 5★. Sorted by satisfaction rate.
| Rank | Shopping site | Avg rating | Satisfaction (4–5★) | Neutral (3★) | Negative (1–2★) | Reviews |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | JioMart | 3.52 | 58% | 14% | 28% | 86 |
| 2 | FirstCry | 3.48 | 56% | 15% | 29% | 98 |
| 3 | Tata CLiQ | 3.46 | 56% | 15% | 30% | 122 |
| 4 | BigBasket | 3.47 | 55% | 16% | 29% | 139 |
| 5 | Amazon India | 3.46 | 55% | 15% | 29% | 143 |
| 6 | Ajio | 3.46 | 55% | 15% | 30% | 195 |
| 7 | Snapdeal | 3.46 | 55% | 16% | 29% | 117 |
| 8 | Croma | 3.45 | 55% | 15% | 30% | 188 |
| 9 | Reliance Digital | 3.45 | 55% | 15% | 30% | 100 |
| 10 | Flipkart | 3.37 | 53% | 16% | 32% | 209 |
The striking finding is how tightly clustered the field is: nine of the ten sit inside a 0.07-point band (3.45–3.52). In Indian e-commerce, the platform you pick matters far less than most "best shopping site" listicles imply. The one real outlier is Flipkart, which is 0.15 points below the pack average and carries the highest negative share of any big retailer we track.
So which online shopping site should you actually use?
Because the averages are near-identical, choose by category strength and failure mode, not by star rating.
| If you are buying… | Use | Why (from the reviews) |
|---|---|---|
| Electronics you cannot afford to be fake | Amazon India | Fulfilled-by-Amazon stock removes the third-party seller risk that drives most authenticity complaints |
| Large appliances & festive-sale pricing | Flipkart | Best sale pricing and appliance installation network — but budget for a slower return pickup |
| Groceries and household staples | JioMart or BigBasket | Highest satisfaction rates in the whole table (58% / 55%); complaints are about substitutions, not fraud |
| Fashion and apparel | Ajio | 195 reviews, 55% satisfaction, and the most consistent sizing feedback of the fashion retailers |
| Baby and kids products | FirstCry | 3.48 average — second-highest on this list, with the lowest authenticity complaint rate |
| Premium / luxury goods | Tata CLiQ | 56% satisfaction and Tata-house sourcing; slower delivery is the main gripe |
| Electronics you want to see before buying | Croma or Reliance Digital | Both 3.45 with store-backed returns — the practical advantage over pure online sellers |
Why does nobody score above 3.52?
Reading through the negative reviews, three failure modes account for the overwhelming majority of 1★ and 2★ ratings, and they are the same three at every platform:
- Return-pickup delays. The purchase goes fine; the reversal does not. Repeated rescheduling of pickup is the single most common complaint theme.
- Third-party marketplace sellers. Wrong item, refurbished-as-new, or missing accessories — almost always from a marketplace seller rather than the platform's own fulfilment.
- Refund timing. Money held for 7–10 working days after a return is accepted, with no proactive communication.
None of these are solved by switching platforms. They are solved by buying platform-fulfilled stock wherever it is offered and by paying with a method that supports chargebacks.
Amazon India vs Flipkart: the only head-to-head most shoppers need
| Measure | Amazon India | Flipkart |
|---|---|---|
| Average rating | 3.46 | 3.37 |
| Satisfaction (4–5★) | 55% | 53% |
| Negative (1–2★) | 29% | 32% |
| Reviews on 7review | 143 | 209 |
| Strongest for | Authenticity, support resolution | Sale pricing, large appliances |
| Weakest for | Price during festive sales | Return pickup speed |
The gap is real but small: 2 percentage points of satisfaction and 0.09 rating points. If the item you want is meaningfully cheaper on Flipkart, the review data does not justify paying more on Amazon — unless authenticity is the deciding factor.
What about Myntra, Nykaa and Meesho?
Honest answer: we do not yet have enough reviews to rank them fairly. Myntra sits at 1.29/5, Nykaa at 2.14/5 and Meesho at 2.33/5 on 7review — but each of those is based on fewer than 10 reviews, which is far too small a sample to compare against a 200-review platform. Very small review counts are dominated by people who arrived specifically to complain. Treat those three scores as unreliable until the counts grow, and do not let any "best shopping sites" page tell you otherwise.
How we ranked them
We pulled every published review for India's ten largest general online retailers from 7review's database (528 listed businesses, 65,667 total reviews), computed the average rating and the 4–5★ / 3★ / 1–2★ distribution for each, and required a minimum of 80 reviews to qualify for the ranking. Reviews are unpaid and publicly submitted. No retailer paid for placement, and 7review earns no commission on any purchase made at these sites.
Frequently Asked Questions
Which is the best online shopping site in India in 2026?
By verified user satisfaction, JioMart ranks highest — 58% of its 86 reviews are 4★ or 5★, for an average of 3.52/5 — followed by FirstCry (3.48) and Tata CLiQ (3.46). Among general-purpose retailers, Amazon India (3.46, 55% satisfaction) edges out Flipkart (3.37, 53% satisfaction).
Is Amazon or Flipkart better in India?
Amazon India rates slightly higher: 3.46/5 with a 55% satisfaction rate and 29% negative reviews, versus Flipkart's 3.37/5, 53% satisfaction and 32% negative. The gap is small. Choose Amazon when product authenticity matters most and Flipkart when festive-sale pricing or large-appliance delivery matters most.
Which Indian shopping site has the fewest bad reviews?
JioMart has the lowest share of negative ratings among major Indian retailers, at 28% of its 86 reviews. FirstCry, BigBasket, Amazon India and Snapdeal all sit at 29%. Flipkart has the highest at 32% of 209 reviews.
What is the best site for online fashion shopping in India?
Ajio, on review volume and consistency: 3.46/5 from 195 reviews with a 55% satisfaction rate. Myntra scores far lower on 7review (1.29/5), but that is from only 7 reviews and is not a reliable sample.
Are Indian online shopping sites safe?
Yes. Amazon India, Flipkart, Ajio, JioMart, Tata CLiQ, BigBasket, Croma, Reliance Digital, FirstCry and Snapdeal are all legitimate, registered companies with secure payment processing. The practical risk is not the platform but third-party marketplace sellers, so prefer platform-fulfilled listings and check seller ratings before ordering high-value items.
Why are all Indian e-commerce ratings around 3.5 out of 5?
Because the same three problems affect every platform: return-pickup delays, third-party seller quality, and slow refunds. These account for the bulk of 1★ and 2★ reviews at all ten retailers, which compresses every average into the 3.37–3.52 band.
